why we built Penna
Between us, we've spent decades developing performance apparel for Nike, Levi's, ASICS, and Decathlon. From day one, we've built Penna alongside a healthcare practitioner who experienced the frustrations of medical apparel firsthand, long before we sketched a single garment. Care professionals spend long days on their feet, move constantly, and rely on what they wear every shift. We saw an opportunity to bring the same level of performance thinking to a category that had been overlooked.

Most apparel companies start by designing a garment and then selecting a fabric. We start with the material. Because the fabric determines everything that follows: comfort, movement, durability, breathability, and how the garment performs through every shift. When the material is right, every other decision gets better.
designed for every shift
Care work spans a wide range of environments and demands. The "perfect scrub" for one job may be completely wrong for the next. Each of our product lines is built for a set of those demands, and our range grows as we learn more. We're starting with DiamondFlow Knit, a jacquard backed double knit at the heavier end of the weight scale, optimized for movement and durability, with enough body to hold its shape and opacity through repeated wear and laundering.

Small initial runs let us gather real feedback and build it into the next production run. Release, refine, repeat. We don't chase trends. We refine every generation based on the people who wear it.

We design and construct our garments to last, both in the sense of something you'll want to wear for years, and something that holds up through those years of wear and laundering. We use minimal waste design principles and recycled and organic fibers because we think that makes sense for everyone.
